How did they get Szabados out of Ohio ? Seems so odd. Not complaining just curious.

How did they get Szabados out of Ohio ? Seems so odd. Not complaining just curious. Promised him an additional vowel, maybe. Wofford has had excellent success over the years Recruiting OH & KY & Furman had success Recruiting the Cincy area. It’s fertile ground. Don’t know who recruited Mr. Szabados, but I love his size, Moeller has always been a hotbed of talent, and his vid looks solid as well. If he has enough range to play OLB, I could see him contributing early.

Of course, he never played and eventually quit the team, but still looked like a good player. To be more precise & correct Jackal’s lame attempt to besmirch, by association, an outstanding young prospect only because he signed with Mercer; that Furman Player was recruited by the prior staff for their Offense in 2015. Redshirted his Freshman year, as most OLmen do & was on Furman’s 2-deep OLine as a R-FR in 2016. So, “never played” is probably inaccurate & more accurately expressed as, “made the Offensive Line 2 deep while only a Freshman.” “ Fellow freshmen Chris Breedlove (left guard), Cody Wyatt (center), “Moeller Player“ (right guard) and Andy Godwin (right tackle) are listed in No. 2 positions along the offensive line depth chart.”
Quit the Furman Team in spring of 2017 as new Coaching Staff installed a very different Offensive scheme, as did at least 1 other OLman, who transferred & was a full-time starter for a CAA Team in 2018.

Well...I (and all of the other Mercer Football Fans who read this board, but don't post...and the ones who should be reading this board and posting here) have been slack about posting anything about Mercer's Football Recruiting Class of 2019...since the Early Signing period...and I shouldn't have been. This class, in FUBeAR's opinion, is truly Mercer's Best Overall Recruiting Class since 2012 - the 1st of 2 classes recruited without Athletic Scholarships. Yeah, I'm biased toward those "Day1's" and that probably sounds stupid to a lot of "Recruiting Peeps" and to, well, most everybody...but if you think about it, the Bears brought in 108 (by my count) Players that year and if you include the size of their hearts and their leadership qualities along with their unbelievable (and unexpected) talent level, I'm sorry....but unless they shelve the Program and restart it again someday, no single Recruiting Class of 15-25 or so Players will ever top the one of 2012. Sorry for my digression...Now, Back to the Future...literally.... So, the December signees are already listed in this thread. Here are the 5 added in the February signing period... - Richard Benton Jr. - DL, 6-2/243, B.E.S.T Academy, Atlanta, Ga. - 3 Star; over 30 offers; 17 FBS, including 1 P5/ACC offer; rated as #1 SoCon Recruit by HeroSports (see next post) - Devin Folser - K, 6-2/170, Ola HS, McDonough, Ga. - Offers from Kennesaw & JaxSt; Kohl's Kicking ranks him 4.5 Stars & #52 in US. 12 Kickers that were ranked below him by Kohl's signed with FBS Teams (signed...NOT walk-ons or PWO's, signed). His school-record 51 yard FG in 2018 appears as if it would have been good from 70+ yards. It's still OVER the top of the uprights when it crosses past the crossbar!! - Chris Hill - DL, 6-2/260, Statesboro HS, Statesboro, Ga. - Offers from The Citadel, Savannah State, & Stetson - Yahsyn McKee - WR, 5-10/172, Stockbridge HS, Stockbridge, Ga. - Offers from Hawaii (yes, that Hawaii), ETSU, and Charleston Southern. Though not 'reported,' non-Mercer 'inside sources' tell me he was also offered and highly coveted by at least one Sun Belt Team (FBS G5), which shall remain nameless - Solomon Zubairu - DL, 6-1/240, Archer HS, Lawrenceville, Ga. - Offer from Stetson In addition to the really, really good things FUBeAR saw in the vids of many of the December signees, he was VERY impressed with Benton's, Folser's, and McKee's vids. Don't be surprised to see each of them contributing to Mercer's Football success in 2019. Hill and Zubairu both may be those "classic" 'under-the-radar' 'tweeners' (size-wise). Both play with 'motors' reminiscent of former Mercer DL Great, Tunde Ayinla; and appear to be ox-strong & agile. Hill even played LB @ 260...in HS! May take a redshirt year for them to 'find themselves' and grow into their roles...or they could also (pleasantly) surprise FUBeAR and contribute in 2019. BTW - The Recruiting "Experts" also think a lot of Mercer's Recruiting Class...see next post...

I think some of these have recently been "recalculated" - above shows WCU with 6 commits and we ended up with I think 20. 247 has Mercer as #1 and WCU as #2 in the SoCon, but again that is based on Mercer's 13 and WCU's 6 commits (which is way off). HERO appears to be updated, and they now have WCU as #1 in SoCon (#10 in FCS). They have Furman #16 and Mercer #17, but this is based on incoming Freshman only (transfers are excluded). m.herosports.com/fcs/football-2019-recruiting-top-50-fcs-teams-rankings-ajajHere is just the SoCon rankings: m.herosports.com/fcs/recruiting-2019-football-southern-conference-socon-ajajWCU ended with 3 of the top 6 and 5 of the top 24 signees (and 6 of the top 30). Mercer now only has 3 in the top 30 (#2,#19,and #23 respectfully).

Yeah - just updated 95...you are a level-headed, pragmatic guy...you buyin' that a kid from "Down East" NC...turns down 3 FBS P5 SEC/ACC offers from UNC, NC State, and South Carolina - all just about 2 hours from his Hometown (which is just about smackdab in the middle of those 3) to go to FCS/WCU on the far end of the state...more than 2x as far from his Hometown than any of the other 3 FBS offers?
