I don't even want to talk about Chattanooga anymore. Just going to move past it and look forward to Homecoming, the insane crowd that's going to be there, and The Citadel Bulldogs.
So, the option is coming to town and will certainly present a different challenge for us.
At the macro level, The Citadel looks hard to figure on paper. 2-6 on the year and in their losses against Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Charleston Southern, Wofford, Chattanooga, and Western Carolina they've scored 16, 12, 18, 13, 14 and 15 points, respectively. In their wins against Gardner Webb and Charlotte they scored 37 and 63. Also, their 2 wins have come at home.
As you might imagine, running the option, they are averaging 314 yards per game on the ground, and 5.3 yards per carry. 81 yards per game throwing the football.
On the defensive side, they are allowing 450 yards per game, 219 yard on the ground and 231 yards through the air.
Interestingly, they have 22 (you read that right) fumbles in 8 games, but have incredibly only lost 8 of them (you read that right too.) No idea how that happens, unless they are having problems on exchanges in the backfield and it's a fumble and fall on it type situation. You know our situation this year and we've had 14 fumbles and lost 7.
They also have 15 sacks in 8 games.
They have 5 backs with over 40 carries on the season. Their primary runner is the QB Aaron Miller, with 155 carries on the season. (Alex Lakes has 148). The next most active runner is Tyler Renew with 108 carries, averaging about 55 yards per game.
In the passing game, Miller is only completing about 42% of his passes, 46-108. But he only has 1 INT.
Their leading receiver, Rudder Brown, is averaging 19 yards per game.
The kicker is 7-8 on the year with a long of 42.
They have 3 players with 3.5 sacks, and two of those, Tevin Floyd and Mitchell Jeter, both also have 7.5 tackles for loss.
