Our great women's team just gets it done, year in and year out.
I feel like they often get shafted with their seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Two years ago they were a top 25 team but had to play Georgia in Athens. But almost won.
This year, they are a 16 seed which is insane.
"We knew we were going to play somebody great, didn't matter which seed a lot of 1-2-3 seeds. This is a year that is kind of wide open for a national champion. So we knew that no matter who we drew that it was going to be a great team," said head coach Susie Gardner. "We're not fearful, we're excited about the challenge. We understand the challenge. We're respectful of the challenge, but we're one of 64 teams."
Beat South Carolina! That is all!

I was waiting for FUBeAR to create this post, but I got tired of waiting.
The Spartans beat the Bears twice this season. By a score of 81-68 in Greensboro on Jan. 27 and by three points in Macon, Ga., on Feb. 13.
Yes, it is tough to beat a team three times in a season (at least that is what I hear a lot, I don't actually have any statistics to back that up).
Bears are peaking at the right time. If Cummings gets out of his shooting slump and the teams' intensity stays high, we very will could win this.
But, dang, Miller will have to be stopped.
But Alvarez has been playing lights out, so UNCG will have to stop him to win.

That was an exciting OT game. Nice senior night for Ross Cummings. I will miss watching him play next year.

That game was way too close. No way should the Bears have to go into double OT to beat Sam. But it was exciting to watch.

I know it is early in the season, but the SoCon continues to outperform other peer mid major conferences like CUSA, CAA, and SunBelt.

Wofford

First SoCon game of the 20-21 season did not go as planned. My take: Wofford had too many players who contributed and Mercer didn't. Mercer played flat with no emotion at the end. But when the opposing team gets hot at the end like Wofford did, it is hard to get back in the game.

Hopefully Coach Gary voted the Bears #2. It makes no sense that WCC is included but CUSA isn't. It should be all non Power 5 schools.

The way it is going, I wouldn't be surprised if the season was canceled soon. Too bad because this team could compete for the conference championship.

Elon is picked mid pack (5th) in the CAA this year. Still should be a win.

Are there no Mercer fans who survived the pandemic? I'll take this. The Bears will kick the Cats butts this year.

The Southern Conference canceled all fall conference sports competitions Thursday, according to a press release by Mercer University.
“It is the intention [of the Southern Conference] to move the fall sports’ regular-season competition and championships to the spring,” according to the press release. “Practice and competition for some sports that have their championships in the winter/spring but traditionally have fall practice will be determined by each institution.”
