Why run hurry up offense with less than 8 minutes to go?Up 10 points. Stupid, stupid, stupid. But OK then, hurry up offense it is, so why go for the home run pass? Keep gashing ETSU! You can't do both. They just let ETSU off the hook. Let up on the gas. Had to take a time out cause we (once again) couldn't get the play in on time. Ugh!!!! Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!!! Risked everything for the home run!

Just keep it close against the Bears - guaranteed "W" if you do

You mean besides the obvious fact that the team was not mentally ready to play? hard to believe you really believe that. But I'll get into to it if you're sincere. The 4th Q drive on the missed FG. Mercer is gashing ETSU with the run. Leggett's on fire. So they decide to take him out. Ugh. Stupid, Stupid. Then it is first down on the 25. ETSU is tired. Haven't stop the run yet on the drive. Gains of 5/10/15 yards. Even Tee is running well. So what do we do? Go for the home run ball in the end zone. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Totally killed the drive ended the momentum. Game totally turned around at that moment. Lamb got greedy. Could not be patient. A short pass here is perfect, but the home run ball? stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!!!! What was the ETSU defense in on that play?

Why make your Freshman QB do that?

It is like these coaches who were once a QB in college, and they constantly call QB roll outs against their throwing arm. It is the hardest throw in football. But the coach pulled it off in college, so let's make all our QBs do it. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

What was the ETSU defense in on that play? IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!!!! You are killing the defense. Why change? No offense, but a comment like this makes me feel like you are just bloviating. Saying it doesn't matter suggests that just running or passing is only dictated by the whim of the coach calling plays, and not actually in response to what is in front of you on the field. If after those big runs they put 8 down in the box, and you think we were just running at will regardless of what the D is doing? Is that it? Do you think what an offense does is independent of defensive sets? If anything, I think we've been way to conservative with the Freshman QB. WAY to conservative. I would always rather us err on the side of aggression. Especially when it comes to trying to score. You have to be at a point where you can confidently run anything in the playbook, based on what the other teams defense is giving you. But you're entitled to you opinion. However, suggesting the answer to my question doesn't matter makes me consider it much less.

Keep the pressure on. The mo is in your favor. Keep gashing the defense. UGH. If your going to defend this play calling, then it is hopeless to continue on this site. You can have a rah , rah site if you want. But today was pathetic. If you can't see that then.........

I'm not telling you what you can or can't say, I'm just saying I may not agree with you, and the fact that you had no idea what the defense was in affects my opinion. Also, do you hear me saying I was happy about what went down today? I just think there are bigger issues that a pass into the endzone at the end of game where we are up a touchdown and about 300 other things have gone wrong. And, if you are going to be an ass about it, you're free to go start your own damn message board, where you can constantly bitch and don't have to listen to my "rah rah" stuff. Or, you can just realize that everyone on here has an opinion. And it might not be the same as yours.

But I don't think you can.

Lol. You act like I've never argued before. Also, I never said the coaches were prefect. I'm sure there are coaching errors every game. I was just curious as to your reason behind picking that play. Then you had to go and say the defense didn't matter. Which is just silly, really. Had you have said "Well, they were playing zone, 2 high and only had 5 in the box" I would've considered your hypothesis.
Also, I don't see and know everything the coaches do, and certainly haven't had time to rewatch the game where I try to look at the plays individually. I'm not coming from a place of beliving the coaches are infallible. I just like to have some evidence before I go throwing everyone under the bus.

So the coaches aren't infallible. I know that is a stretch for you, so kudos. Bottom line. Mercer players had the better talent. Mercer was not mentally ready to play as evidence of their first half lack luster performance. This is coaching. Mercer came out the second half smoking hot. The coach play calling killed their momentum from the 8 minute mark in the 4th Q. Lamb was out coached. Mercer should NOT have lost this game.
