I like Bobby and wish him well. He did a lot of good things here.
Having said that it’s obvious we need a change. I like both of those of those Mt. DeSales mentioned. In that vein Navy has been very good and consistent too. Maybe an assistant there.?

Brent Davis is making more money as an OC at Army than he'd make as an FCS head coach. He's not going to take such a pay cut to come to Mercer.
If that is the style offense you want, then you grab Brian Bohannon and Grant Chesnut at Kennesaw State. Mercer could pay them more than Kennesaw State if they chose to, but 2020 is Bohannon's last year of his contract, so at $275K the offer will have to be sufficiently above that.

They have certainly been successful at Kennesaw! In playoffs consistently. If can’t get Bohannon maybe Chestnut that you mentioned.

Don’t underestimate the opportunity to become a HC in real football country. Mercer is a great opportunity to be successful.

Just a few observations from my years of watching SoCon carousels.
Service academy coaches seem like they make sense, but they are usually pretty well compensated and have a nice benefits package as federal employees. You rarely see those guys leave.
Mercer doesn't have a deep bench of coaches as a new program. Most programs will often go get a guy that came through previously as a former player or coach. I believe Furman, UTC, Wofford, the Citadel, and WCU all have coaches that either played or coached for those programs (or both).
Mercer wil want to make the right hire, but with an early signing date in December, they also may want to try and keep the recruiting class together. So, I'm sure they'll be moving quick.
To be honest, I am quite sure that the decision to move on from Lamb wasn't made just yesterday, so they may have already identified who they intend to go after.

Just worth mentioning that recruiting at Mercer is a different proposition that recruiting to Kennesaw. And, as I said before (just a personal opinion so people don't call me a jerk again), this is a whole lot of option coaches and I really am not interested in seeing option football at Mercer. Not at all.
That being said, I have some names I'm interested in:
George Quarles - OC, Furman Rob Christophal - OC, Nicholls State
And here's is my super flyer pick, understanding I have some personal knowledge of this guy and it would be a gamble but could pay off in spades.
Joey King - WRs, Coastal Carolina.

I don't discount it, but Brent has turned down other FCS jobs before (and usually renegotiated higher pay from Monken along with it). Also, at some point, some MAC, Sun Belt or CUSA school will dangle Brent interest in a head coaching job paying $1M+ and I'm not sure he'll pursue it hard, but he'll certainly listen. I have a hard time seeing him moving away from Monken unless they are both jobless. With what they've done in restoring Army to a competitive team, they have job security for quite some time.

This is also not exactly a well kept secret, but Drew Cronic is gonna be on Mercer's radar.

You mentioned Grant Chestnut. Wasn’t familiar with him but I like that offense so I looked him up. A ga boy that played offensive line for Paul Johnson at Georgia Southern and then later coached with Johnson at GT. He has been offensive coordinator and O line coach at Kennesaw for 5 years! They have put up impressive offensive numbers there and won consistently. Impressive young man. Maybe someone we should consider!

A couple of guys off the cuff Nate Fuqua - Georgia State DC Shiel Wood - Georgia State ILB Brad Glenn - Georgia State OC James Miller - Reinhardt HC As I've said before, if the first phone call isn't to Drew Cronic, Mercer is doing it wrong.
