I case you didn't hear...... Awesome! It was fun watching Mercer’s starting QB, Robert Riddle, outplay last year’s pre-season Walter Payton Watch List Member & ultimately Walter Payton Award WINNER, Samford’s Devlin Hodges, on the Walter Payton Award WINNER’s Home field, as the Bears beat the bullpups in the 1st SoCon game of the 2018 season for both Teams. Sounds like a familiar situation, huh? Knowing that past performance is the BEST predictor of future events, this is a GREAT omen for Mr. Adams! ...and for another Mercer victory over WCU in Cullowhee on 8/31, of course.

You can come to Cullowhee hoping and dreaming of a repeat of the win over last season's Payton Watch List member, but it won't be repeated in the Whee. Bank on it.

Just another reason the Bears are headed for a less than great season, assistant coach turnover. 6 of 11 coaches hired since Jan '19 - thats a lot. New offensive and defensive coordinators !!!!!
MIKE ADAMS - Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers Hired: January 31, 2019
BILL LEGG - Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Hired: Jan. 28, 2019
MATT FLEISCHACKER - Outside Linebackers Coach Hired: February 20, 2019
CHASE HASLETT - Tight Ends Coach Hired: March 28, 2019
LEON WRIGHT - Cornerbacks Coach Hired: February 26, 2019
JEREMY HAWKINS - Defensive Line Coach Hired: January 22, 2019
Don't expect any where near last season's results, with this batch of new coaches.

So, you're assuming that a new coach is always worse than the last? I guess I could see why you think that. But not in this case, I don't think.

I didn't say anything about a new coach being worse than the last. What I said was 6 new coaches, including the two coordinators could spell trouble. Players have to adjust to new personalities, new schemes on offense and defense, etc. They may have it together by 5 or 6 games into the season, but you play AT Western in game #1. Sink or Swim with the new folks. However, some of the new guys might not be as good as the old guys either. but probably not since Lamb did wholesale firing after last season.

Gosh...I REALLY hate to get into this...but I just can’t let complete misinformation stand...and the info below does not indicate in any way whether the ‘old’ or ‘new’ Coaches are better Coaches. It is my understanding that only 1 Mercer Football Coach was ‘relieved of his duties’ after last season. Grant Cain, LB Coach took an ST Coord / TE Coach job at JMU. I’m sure there was a substantial increase in pay with that move. Coach Cain is a rising STAR. Depending on where he wants to go, I could see him Coordinating ST’s for an NFL Team in a year or 2. Will Patterson left for a big step up in a D2 program A CB Coach...a young, single (I believe) man left for the same role at KSU in Metro ATL. I imagine there was also a substantial comp increase for that move and, well, Macon is great...but it will never be the target-rich environment for a young single man that metro ATL is. Joe Pizzo OC/QB (only 1 year @ Mercer) & Kenny Baker, DL re-United with Rusty Wright (they all were together at Gardner-Webb in years gone by)...lateral moves, probably for more money...and there’s always the draw of “putting the band back together”...but most likely their departure was about risk mitigation. Pretty sure Coach Lamb is in the final year of his contract at Mercer. Coach Wright, a Chatt Alum, probably has a 5 or 6 year deal at Chatt. Pretty much a no-brainer...almost any man with a family would have made that same jump. And...BTW...please don’t make FUBeAR start spittin’ knowledge about some of the, I’ll just say, “shenanigans,” associated with recent comings AND goings on the WCU Staff. You know the 2 things I mean...and I don’t like airing that kind of ish...but...y’know...some of those angry demons inside the FUBeAR persona are less judicious & less charitable. Coaching changes happen in all programs. They happened at Mercer, for good reasons, this off season ... and they also happened at WCU. We should leave it at that.

Hey dude, this is a mercer board and nobody is stopping you from posting whatever you want to post. If you have so much intimate knowledge of the going on in Cullowhee, go for it. You can't say anything that will hurt my feelings or embarrasses me or prevent the Cats from a first game victory on Aug. 31st. and you're right, coaching changes happens in all programs, but not all programs have 6 changes, including both coordinators, in one season.

You know I have the CORRECT knowledge & you know the circumstances around 1 departure & 1 new hire. Anyone can have that knowledge, as both situations are matters of public record. I have no problem with embarrassing WCU & the WCU Football program (heck, they really don’t need FUBeAR’s help; pretty much have that activity down cold for themselves). BUT - I do not like embarrassing individuals, so I won’t. You, on the other hand, have no hesitation to come here and publicly post (INCORRECTLY) about 6 Mercer Football Coaches being ‘wholesale fired after last season.’ These fine men have careers & families, and you are on here absolutely libeling them...and, somehow, think you are the righteous one. Really sad.
