I plan to be there & I have tons of purple I can wear... <F>It’s a shade of purple that’s called “14 SoCon Championships Purple” though. I don’t think that shade will fit in very well @ Whitmire Stadium. It clashes with “0 SoCon Championships in over 40 Years Purple.”

Dr. Phil disagrees with your projection... 10/20/2018 - Home - Macon, Ga. - Mercer with another W 59 - 46 11/11/2017 - Away - Cullowhee, N.C. - Mercer with another W 35 - 33 10/15/2016 - Home - Macon, Ga. - Mercer W 38 - 24
...”PAST BEHAVIOR” & Dr. Phil say Bears make it 4 in a row over the Cantamounts...with yet another BIG W...by 10. Then, on 10/26/19, that wonderful CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING shade of Purple comes up to Cullowhee as Dr. Phil projects that the Paladins notch THEIR 4th straight W over the hapless kitties...by 19. FUBeAR has tentative plans to attend that one too. #FUATT

So nice of WCU to shoot off fireworks after the game to celebrate Mercer’s 4th VICTORY in a row over the Cantamounts!

However I find it interesting that the Cats piled up 710 yards of total offense, finishing just one yard shy of a school record set by the Hall of Fame 1969 football team (711 yards vs. Emory & Henry)against the defensive line of the Bears. I know our defense took a lot of heat last season, but the Bears put up 572 yards total offense, against the Cats 710 yards. WCU posted 35 first downs to Mercer's 25; the Cats had 309 net years rushing to Mercer's 278; and Adams put up 401 yards passing to Mercer's 294. No doubt the Bears ended up on top in the final score, but to me, the Cats defense certainly held their own against the Mercer offense. Tyrie's back and this year you come to Cullowhee.

As HERO Sports said, this should be a very interesting litmus test (for both teams in my opinion). I think both teams should have good offenses again, so D and special teams will be huge (as they were in the last 2 meetings between the Cats and Bears). Surely Western's special teams will be at least incrementally better, but I have no clue about the D - we have shifted some recruiting focus there (finally), but it will still be a whole bunch of young 'uns over there.

Hey look...there’s actually a video from WCU’s most recent appearance in the Playoffs. They got spanked 43-7.
I wasn’t sure television had been invented because it was so long ago.
35 seasons (and counting) without even a single Playoff Appearance.
Gotta hand it to them though - their Playoff Record is way better than their SoCon Football Championships Record - ZERO in 43 years of futile participation.
FUBeAR’s Stone-Cold-Lock Prediction: Those Numbers run to 36 and 44 years, respectively, for the Cantamounts at the end of the 2019 Season.

At least we've been there.
The national championship game, win or lose - we were there. Other than Furman, who else in the SoCon can say that?
