Cade Gothard - Sr Season Highlights - FUBeAR APPROVEDAthletic, agile, quick OLman who can run & plays nasty, but is altitudinally-challenged. Those measurables / characteristics only work for small-time Teams...y’know, like the New England Patriots ( NE Pats Starting RG). FUBeAR is ELATED to see Mercer offer this type of OLman. Unless, I’m missing someone, in 6 years of SoCon competition, Mercer has only had 4 OLmen earn All SoCon honors. The 1st one was 6-1, the next 2 were 6-2 or 6-3 (in various years) and the 4th one was listed at 6-3, but looks closer to 6-2 (to FUBeAR). Regardless, Mercer has never had an All SoCon OLman taller than 6-3. So, you might say, “But Mercer hasn’t had very many OLmen over 6-3.” But...you would be wrong. Mercer has averaged having about 6 OLmen on the roster over 6-3 every year since 2014, and that number skewed higher as the 2012-2014 Recruiting Classes of mostly shorter OLmen finished up. Yet, none of those over 6-3 (I think the total is about 34 - counting each one ‘roster-year’ as a separate ‘person’) has ever made All SoCon. Just sayin’... Aptitude+Attitude > Altitude Sorry for the self-quote - just noticed, what I perceive to be a little “Easter Egg” in this Tweet - notice that Mr. Gothard has ‘tagged’ @cobodine. Welp, that’s the Twitter account of Coach Bob Bodine, who shows as the “Offensive Coordinator” for Lenoir-Rhyne on this account. Doesn’t make much sense for a young man to tag a Coach from a different school in his offer announcement, does it? Guessing that account will retain its Bears, but will have more of an orange tint to it very soon. |

I’m sorry but how do you commit to a school without even knowing its name? I may sound petty to some, and this kid chose Mercer over some other GREAT offers. But how close attention did he pay to what he’s gettin into? |

Hope I did not insinuate I was making fun of him. He is excited no doubt. I like to look at potential schools, and there measurable’s. These guys seem like great students, just want to see there athleticism. I’m not a stars guy, just anxious I guess. |
